Sony XCP

I am not a pirate, but I do mind being called one. Sony's XCP is the same exact thing as racial profiling at airports. Except that instead of security personnel thinking you look like an arab, Sony thinks you look like a pirate. And that hurts, it really bothers me being compared to the sleazy guy in Revere Beach with the trunk of his Grand Torinofull of bachata and reggeton CDs.

The other day I bought a CD (labeled Sony/Epic), it has this very large FBI warning on both covers yet no indications of having XCP - but do you think for a minute that I will pop it into my PC? I have been avoiding playing it on the PC, only on the other regular players at home - and you know what, I feel like on house arrest. I do all of my work at the PC and having to ban the CD from the CD-ROM drive is punishment for a crime I did not commit [insert The Figitive theme here]. And, no, I will not disable Auto Play - if I disable Auto Play then the terrorist have won.

TRANKA II - a.k.a. Avi Sokolove Torres

So, you are here either because you saw the presentation and wanted to know more or you just stumbled upon this blog on your daily travels. Welcome anyways. Yes, there is a new addition to the Torres-Weinstein family due in March 2006. It is a boy and we have the pictures to prove it! His name is Avi (short for Avraham) but his stage name is Leroy. The story goes that very early in the pregnancy Rachel saw a sonogram of the foetus and the first thing out of her mouth was, "It looks like a Leroy!" Hence, the stage name Leroy stuck until we decided on the name Avi. Thus far, the pregnancy is in its 22th week at the time of this blog and mother and baby are doing fine.

We have been trying to get ready by reading books, fixing the house and informally interviewing new parents, but we know that, like all engineering feats, no amount of planning is ever enough. Yet, the medical staff at the Tufts Medical Center right next to Chinatown and the Theater District in Boston have been amazing. They got their stuff down pat and have made the process smoother.

Well, that's it for now. I'll put up more postings later. I would appreciate comments and suggestions on parenting from all of you - so use the comment link below to post your gems of wisdom!

Until then,
TRANKA I

OK, you had your chance to click away. Rachel and I have registered at Babies'r'Us. This link will take you there. Just type Weinstein under Last Name and Revere under City.
